What is the network?

The Participation Network, was made up of 254 members, and formed well-established links between groups and organisations committed to the participation of children and young people in decision-making throughout Scotland.

The Network facilitated the exchange of information and ideas between those working in this field through an e-directory, e-group and an online map of participation projects across Scotland. Members of the Network attended and contributed to a variety of policy consultations and responses.

How do I join?

The Participation Network was free of charge and open to any organisation, local or national, voluntary or statutory of any size who actively involved children and young people in the participation of their organisation.

Events held by the Participation Network included The Future's You which gave members of the network, particularly young people, the opportunity to meet with the Commissioner for Children and Young People in Scotland. Click here to read the report from the The Future's You event.

One Step Beyond

This three year project, funded by the Carnegie UK Trust, provided targeted training for professionals and young people, a young persons’ e-network and increased participation in the policy process at local and national levels.

One Step Beyond catered for groups and organisations who evolved past basic participatory techniques and are involving children and young people at more advanced stages of decision-making.
